I run 10-40 redline in my 383. No issues at all.

mobil 1 10/40 racing 4t or equivalent in a high revving small block. straight weight oils are seriously old tech and could easily cause your oil pump or filter to bypass

just curious, earlier in this thread somebody mentioned look at the oil temps and go from there. How will the oil temp tell you want viscosity oil to choose?
