I have a 27 Activator that handles the rough stuff great. For the money, nothing can beat it.

29 SCARAB, I have this boat and swear by the ride and comfort
Wellcraft service....well let's just say

Figure what you want to use the boat for...ocean, lakes, or both.
Cabin use...porta potty, sleeping, a place to cool from the sun, or you may not be concerned with a cabin.

Options...single or twin, bolster seating, electric or manual, snap-in carpet, fairing or winshield, shower on swim platform...these are some of the options available for this boat and are things to consider when you make your purchase.

The SCARAB is long time well known offshore brand and for big or smooth water this boat is a great choice for the money

My other recommendation in this size range would be the FORMULA 292

my 02

For ride best 28 Cigarette. You won't ride on a better boat in that size.

I can't help it!!
A 252 SunSport Formula (90-95 vintage) with a single roller 454 BB & Procharger (5#) very reliable & 75 MPH gps! Great seating (large) & small cuddy. Resale is fantastic, sold mine in one day!
Any Formula 272 to 292 with a single BB if possible. Smaller seating area than the 252 SS but a larger cuddy.
Due to the quality of the Formula build & upholstery, more older boat qualify asa a "buy" without repairs.
Just my own experience talking here.....of course it is POSSIBLE, that Formula owners take better care of their boats??? I really don't want to start a war here, but the higher priced boats such a Formula, Fountain, Cig, The Thunders, etc ARE better taken care of generally in the used market.
Best of luck with your pursuit!!

Lotoparty
As far as rough water goes, nothing can touch an Activator as has been proven on the race course. I just got back from Savanah this morning and Activator finished 1st and 3rd. The water wasn't anything like Cape Cod, but was a sloppy 3-4's and was a great race. If you were racing I would get an Activator, kryptonite, or warlock. but since I dont think you're interested in racing, I would look at the boats that have the most room and handle the rough stuff well. Pantera,Lavey craft, sonic, etc. Have fun making you're choice.

form the responses you are getting on this message board .... any boat you buy will be perfect for the ROUGH water at LOTO.

Most of the responses here are to justify the boat someone just bought

The 28' Nordic is your boat. Great looks, great performance, the best cabin in its class and best of all outstanding resale value.

I have owned three Nordics 23,28 and 35. My 28 had a 540 Bulldog w/420 blower, boat ran upper 80's.

Go to the web and look for limited Marine there are a Nordic dealer

POWERPLAY, all the way.

SBI national champ 2 years in a row. Best fit and finish money can buy. 10 years later the boat is still intact, so will bring the highest return. Great cabin space, and can be dolled up anyway you like.
+ I'm bias I work their !
