I was at TNT rigging shop and JT ran 155mph on the first seatrial. That was only a shake down run. My guess at least 165mph or more. But keep in mind they will carry a lot of fuel.

More power to them and best of luck for a safe attempt.
There is no resurgence of open ocean, long distance racing in the United States. Period.
No offshore boat manufacturer is actually producing models for this purpose.
"Runs" and "Records" are what is left, and they are great accomplishments in every angle you analyze them. This past weekend is a perfect example.
Why people keep trying to create enthusiasm for these events by drawing dreamy comparisons of what offshore pioneers did decades ago is comical.
At least we didn't have to endure multiple months of propoganda similar to "XYZ many people thought about doing this over coffee this morning" and have less than a handful of people actually show up on the day of the event.
Having someone prepare and execute an attempt at this level should be seen as a positive event for the industry.

Wow, does not look much like an MTI. 48 with 1350's is well north of 170 if properly set up. However fuel will play a role depending on how long this run is.
The biggest problem with this set up is lack of gear ratios to take advantage of the huge torque these motors make.

The boat holds about 500 gallons = 3300# of fuel. I was told it would be set up to run 160ish, hoping to cruise at 120....... Good Luck Stu, JT, & Paul.

We ran John Woodruff's "Windship" 48 MTI up to 150 with out effort first week out of the box. John wasn't pushing it or trying to ring it out at all. Seemed to have a lot of throttle left as well. Windship is a 48' with huge audio system and cabin. Stock 1350's. I'd think a purpose built 48' MTI with stock 1350's would run right past 170 into the high 170s.
