Default circulating pump on 555ci problems

Ok so I've got a problem now with my circulating pump on my 555ci, I recently put a imco shorty on my 28zx and when I go wide open for about 30 seconds the seal on the backside of the circulating pump pushes out and starts spewing water, what do you think is the reason for this, I took the pump off and centre punched a few holes around the pump housing so the gasket had something to bite into. So far so good. But I want to go with a crossover setup and eliminate this pump, what's the best way to do so with a serpentine setup?

Seems like your getting to much pressure, do you have a water pressure gage, if so how much pressure is it showing.
