+1 to that as this has gone viral. Like a cigarette to a lung, another nail in the pine box of offshore boating.

I'm also interested in Tres's take on this. I also have one sincere question since I really don't know; Is it normal for passengers to ride as if they are standing on a bus? Shouldn't everyone either be in a seat or supported by a bolster?

This sucks, it just made CNN, and the two comments I took from it.

"the speeds of THESE boats"

And the dumb one:

"no one was wearing a seat belt".

Hope everyone recovers.

It made CNN this morning. They showed a little more of the video after the accident. Some of the folks were moving about but the driver still had not gotten up.

Wish all a speedy recovery.

It's a heavy, wide boat that throws a wake - that's what it does. Is anyone suggesting that I should maintain 10 knots in open water just because go fasts are operating in the general vacinity??

Conversely, when running the go fast, I similarly observe no-wake zones and otherwise run in open water watching for wakes and useing my best efforts to take then at a suitable speed and angle. Am I missing something?? Should I be demanding flat, wake-free waters when I am operating my go fast?

Seriously - does anyone actually believe this???
Good to hear from someone that does both, and very well stated. Again, drive your boat according to the conditions around you, so everyone can enjoy being out on the water safetly.

How can we get the people that posted this video all over YouTube to take the words "POKER RUN BOAT" out of their titles for the video ?

Seriously, this will come back to haunt performance boating and Poker Run Promoters.

Think he already did respond. Just had to read between the lines to see his thoughts. Least I came away thinking he said enough. Wasn't possible cruisers or their wakes at fault, and can't blame the step hull of any particular boat. Pure Driver error, and total lack of taking ANY saftey precautions from the start. Video speaks volumns of a total lack of GOOD judgement from the get go to the spin out.
It was a accident that was easily preventable and one that could have had a even much worse outcome if not for some pure luck.
