This applies to everyone - Just want to point out something that has been overlooked in my opinion. Never ever EVER start getting on plane without looking around your boat and making sure everyone is secured and don't go anywhere until everyone is.

With the guy on the sun lounge/hatch, the boat should have never moved off idle speed/no wake.

Glad to see nothing more than injuries resulted.

The bolsters could be better, however I have seen vids of racers flying out of race bolsters. Many of us are watching this is slow mo, the real time vid shows they had no chance, short of 5 pt harnesses.

Right now I am wondering how to get my boat on plane without causing a wake that might wreck a moving small boat cruiser is not at fault here.

However, I have passed cruisers that will not get on plane cause they are too heavy, cruising populated areas at 12 mph making a 6 ft swell, I do agree that is irresponsible, they should just cruise no wake if they can't get on plane

I find this interesting that the people on the PB forum with lake boats, some under 20 feet, and some even with flat bottoms, are not complaining about cruiser wakes, but some people here (not all) with "offshore" boats 30 to 40+ feet in length and designed for heavy seas, are. Hmmm.

i disagree, the captian thaught his boat could handle more than it could, the captian did not read the water conditions and attempted to go threw the rough at wide open throttle[shows it on the video],then he pulls the sticks all the way back ,than pins them again,he is luckey his actoins did not kill him or his pasengers, the way i see it,he was going to fast for the water conditions, and his driving ability was poor at best, you cant blame the vessel or vessels that made the wake, only person to blame is the driver of the 38 fountain in the video,to see it any other way is wrong.imo.

well said matt,i cant believe some can blame everything but the operater of the fountain, the cause of this was clearly his fault, not anybody else!

Blame it on false advertising. The stitching on the bolsters says '38', which would lead to overextended confidence.

Come to think of it, that is actually a better cop-out than Rogue Wave.
