Default frothy mix under valve covers

Still trying to figure out if I've got a problem with water in oil or condensation.....how much residue do you guys see under valve cover cap...just a smear or a buildup. I recently had a 212 oil thermo put on and seemed ok-went for a run last nite and there is quite a bit in there.

Thanks pat

What are your water temps? Running thermostats?

None. If so you either had water in the motor or you have water getting in the motor.

Temp is 175 - engine is a fresh rebuild when I got it- dyno time only.

Thought it was a faulty oil cooler, bought another one and prior to install we by passed oil cooler, ran engine appeared ok. About 8 oil changes later Installed new oil cooler, got a lil better & then decided to put the 212 oil thermo on and that really seemed to help......until after last nites run. This am was checking everything over and under valve cover cap just a big blob of mayo. Grrrrrrrrrrr

i see that all the time if the air temp is cool.(just in the valve cover ports)..as long as the oil does not look like coffee with cream i would not worry about it..
