Its nice to see you wearing life jackets. I need to get in the habit more often when I intend to go fast.

Peter, one thing really impressed me on your vid..... The idle tracking on that thing is incredible !!! Single Vee's have such a habit of hunting and wandering idleing. That thing just went straight with no corrections. Hell my boat is like trying to corral a drunken trunk monkey in a no wake zone.

Hi Keith,
I am not really comfortable with the blow up style life jackets beyond 80mph something we will address when we return.. race vests and helmets for the really high speed stuff, our heads are quite close to the sides of the windscreen edges and that is going to really hurt if you hook it...... I also always wear my killcord if i forget..!! my first mate doesn't As you probably know there is a huge coastguard presence in Key West and we didn't want to give them an excuse to pull us over and give us a grilling?? We have also got all our documentation and coastgauard required safety gear onboard just in case.

Hi Phragle,
It does track incredibly well at idle partly down to the notched transom and long tabs breaking up an otherwise flat transom, i am sure it also adds speed..7mph, makes docking an interesting challenge, as soon as you come out of gear the wind takes control of the bow you really have to force it to go where you want especially in reverse...

Hi All,
Back in cold dreary England after our wonderful stay in Florida, i brought back the steering column and wheel and i have already started the convertion for paddle throttles, while the column is apart i am also making it easy to retro fit the fly-by-wire steering system.
Now we are back in England we have also had time to download a bit more go pro

Thanks Toffen,
I have been really busy making and testing parts made a test rig for the Ilmor power steering pump, the standard flow rate is 5.5ltrs per minute and i have made flow control spools in 2ltr increments to 12ltrs per minute so that i can fine tune the flow to suit the installation. Also stripped the steering unit to modify the internals. Finished making the steering wheel throttle paddles, these are on the same access as the steering column but move independently to the steering wheel or together. I am in the process of building a full test rig to simulate a boat installation, should be ready in the next couple of days.

.

This is awesome lookin' Peter!

Will the steering still be fly-by-wire self-centering?

Also it looks like you're testing with a round steering wheel this time as opposed to semi-round in post #77 . In that pic, the trim were going to be placed on the top-inside of the steering wheel.

Wait? Paddle throttle or trim?

How are you going to make the wheel continuously centered? (Unlike any boat I have ever owned....)
