Default 29 scarab with 350s?

Helping a guy out. He's looking at a 1998 29' scarab with twin 350mpi's, a/c, shore power asking. 33,900 for the boat. What's the pros and cons of the small blocks and price it has. It's Listed on boat oodle.

I have a couple friends that have had these boats. One was twin 350's and one had a single 454SC's both boats were great. As long as he has it checked out and it's a solid rig I'd go.

Nice boats. My buddy has a 2000 29' Scarab here in LA. that he would probably sell. It has twin 350mpi's and Bravo drives. I believe it runs 70. The only real negative to it in my opinion is that it's a little tight in the engine compartment. I have another buddy that may sell his 1997 29' Scarab with the 260hp carb 350's.

Is this the one down here? (in Red Stick?) the website doesn't show many pics.(edit. Found the pics.. nice boat)

i have heard good things about them, in my search i was always looking for 29' riding surface...but, the 29's I found, I couldn't find any nice one withOUT the wrap around bolsters on the bench.

Did find 1 in Cali with blackhawks!! nice!

Rides a little rough for a 29'. A friend of mine had one for 3 years with a single 502. I know it's a flatter bottom, not 24 degree deadrise. It would slam pretty hard in the rough and after the first season at LOTO he had problems with the cabin door getting tweeked. At the time I had a 25' Active Thunder and another friend had a 251 checkmate. Both our boats rode better than the 29'.

Thats really suprising to hear...A 29 ft scarab has a 23 degree deadrise and weighs 6000 lbs plus 4 more feet of hull in the water. Ive never heard of one slamming waves.

Not 4 more feet.. actually more like 2-2.5' more riding surface

Gotta love twins cause you can still get home on one motor, and small block parts are cheaper.

Wink

The way the boat sits in the water at idle, the exhaust sound radiates under the swim platform and makes it sound nice at idle. My friends was a single 502 415HP. It sounded like a custom 650HP. When he would pull up to a bar or gas dock people always asked what he had in it. As far as someone that has not been in one when it slams wakes, come to LOTO. You will be surprized at how some of the better riding boats slam wakes and get bounced around.
