He kept asking me, "What do you want to do?"

I kept saying things like, "What power does it have, what options, trailer, etc?"

Beav: "I sell yachts. That's what I do. I'm like a machine, I just sell sell sell. I don't know anything about this boat, I have to ask the owner."

"Gee Ward, you were a little rough on the Beaver last night..."

Sounds like a crime looking for a place to happen. He deserves nothing less than a visit from Traviss with THE bat.

Here's the e-mail I sent to the Beav on bob_t's boat:

Re: 1996 Fountain 27 Fever. I spoke with you on the phone earlier, and you indicated that you didn't have any information on the boat, but could get further details if I emailed you. So, here's my questions:

1. What power? 454, 502, HP500, what? Hours as well.
2. K-planes?
3. Options? Head? Sink?
4. Power bolsters or manual?
5. Graphics? Hard to tell colors from the pictures.
6. Always fresh water? Any salt water use?
7. Trailer? Year/model.
8. Any damage/nicks/dings/repairs beyond normal use?
9. Hull ID number and motor serial number - I need these to check insurance through my ins. company.

Thanks - hope we can do business on this boat!
Sadly, it's now been 24 hrs and no reply from ol' woodchuck! And here he told me he would be getting the answers in "the owner's own words." Of course, it would help if he actually knew who the owner is....

Who's up next on the "Bust the Beavers Balls" show?

My wife and I bought this boat from a private party in early August 2001 - over 11 months ago! I talk with the previous owner occasionally and had told him about beav's ad that still shows up from time to time. The previous owner had used those pictures when he was selling the boat, but he told me that he didn't know how beav ended up with them (he told me that he had never contracted the boat thru beav). I called "beav" late last year when I saw beav advertised it on traderonline again and told him that the boat was sold, and called him again this past spring when I saw it come up on traderonline, again and again and again ...

Dockrocker:
Just in case beav can't answer your questions, I'll provide a little humor:
Bolsters: replaced with K-mart folding lawn chairs (less weight)
Power: Ford 302 EFI with Volvo 290DuoProp (for that extra "out of the hole" response)
K-planes: yes, 2, one on each side
hours: of course! but not too many
trailer: yes
boat s/n: will require $1000 nonrefundable deposit

LOL

Bob

The conversation with this guy was classic - wish I could have recorded it. He kept saying "What do you want to do? I sell yachts, that's what I do. So, what do you want to do? You want the 502 big block like most people? What is that a 38 Fever? 27? Oh yeah, I remember a little more about this boat now. What do you want to do?" And on and on...

Hey dockrocker,

That was just about the same questions I asked about this boat in April. Here is a copy of the email he sent back as an answer to my questions.

From the beav

In all the hundreds of boats that I have sold, I have leaned
the best way to get the seller's attention and find his bottom dollar
is to try an Offer with a copy of a check and contract
all you need to do is tell me the amount you would like to try.

You can always go up.

If you try it we get his blood pressure up and we can get the best deal. $$$$

My guess is that he must keep a certain number of boats listed to remain a part of Yacht World. He doesnt have enough listings because he sucks as salesman and as a person in general. So to keep his little beaver boat company associated with Yacht World he has to make up listings.

LOL - I just got the same msg from the Beav

In all the hundreds of boats that I have sold, I have leaned
the best way to get the seller's attention and find his bottom dollar
is to try an Offer with a copy of a check and contract
all you need to do is tell me the amount you would like to try.

It will have Survey, Seatrial, mechanical and personal
Inspection on it, we want you to buy the boat
so if your offer is accepted you have 1 month
to come to south Florida and check it with your surveys.

If it does not check out your deposit is fully refundable.
You can always go up.

If you try it we get his blood pressure up and we can get the best deal. $$$$
