I got big air off of a freighter wake last year and the lone back seat passenger said she saw both of our feet up front. We both had the sense and confidence in the boat to hold on. I agree that the landing may not have been that bad depending on how deep the trough was.

He was going NORTH and probably started too close when in-between sets......the big stuff is only at the point. There is no beach there to "beach the boat" so forget that. What he should have done is a 180 and went FT back and then went out and NOT into the swell. Either way, he didn't and the next wave popped and was bigger and too late.
Who knows the details, maybe I take being on the water too seriously but geez, that's serious stuff.

Ok if anyone here has landed in a rough one before we all know that there is no way that was smooth landing... That bow was easily 50 feet straight up.... The wave was a minimal I'd 20 feet.... And a 11,000 +++ pound boat.... No fukkin way in hell was that a smooth landing no matter how you look at it or what anyone else has done in the past... Not smooth.... I guarantee that

My encounters are all on a smaller scale with a 22' boat and 6-8 feet wakes, but I have sailed through the air in what seems like slow motion and landed and it was not hard at all. The deep V angle splits the water and as long as you land reasonably straight then it is all good. Scary but good. In this case we will never know unless the driver comes forth. We just can't see the landing. The guy that came up in the air must have been still holding on though. It would be pretty stupid to let go......

Besides... If it was smooth with no issues do you think the boat would be seen in the next shot just sitting there ??? Nope he woulda kept going since the next one was half the size... It's not hard to see that
