Ok if anyone here has landed in a rough one before we all know that there is no way that was smooth landing... That bow was easily 50 feet straight up.... The wave was a minimal I'd 20 feet.... And a 11,000 +++ pound boat.... No fukkin way in hell was that a smooth landing no matter how you look at it or what anyone else has done in the past... Not smooth.... I guarantee that

I don't know FF but in his defense I literally popped my ex wife out and over the passenger bolster and into the back seat. If I didn't have anyone in the back to reach up and grab her as she was flying I am sure she would've hit the water.

in regards to the clip here, seems like he would also be putting many surfers at risk as well. Looks to be an area they would be milling waiting for waves or something.

Yea...Mavericks is probably 10 miles south of San Francisco/Ocean Beach and probably bigger than Ocean beach that day..or should we say more "knarly"...seems like the waves are big there on a calm day.
Who is that Chaos III guy anyway a Phantom Chaos relation?
Heres a couple of videos from that area- looks like a Mavericks film will be released in Feb...the surf event was the 20th......

Almost did that once to. Had a bunch of friends in the Donzi for a poker run and, as they later put it, slipped into race mode lol. I remember glancing back and seeing many faces in fear . . . . i have since become a kinder gentler throttle guy

Looks like a 43 Donzi ZR.
This guy had some options but in the heat of the moment and inexperience he just went for it! I would have personally ran down the coast a little bit more to try and find a smaller waive – the one he hit was going to break early. Or if he came from an inlet he could have spun around and hot tailed it back from where he came from. Great video – love to see pics of the boat now!

The only thing I could see doing in a situation like that would be gingerly throttle up the wave and chop the sticks right at the crest to keep the bow down, like he did in the following wave....great narrative by the surfer dudes. Jeff Spicoli still lives down there!
