Default Shoud I buy it or not?

I came across this boat and I've been going back and forth whether I should buy it or not.
It's an 88 Apache 22 Scout. I always loved these! It has the wrong motor on it. It has a Yamaha that needs to be switched out for a 250 or 300 Merc.
By the time I'm done buying a used motor I will be in the boat for about $30k
When I was young, I thought this was the coolest boat in the world. Now, I probably won't use it very much but it will look cool behind the house.
Is the boat still a cool boat??

I bet you'd use it far more than your other boats. Just wear your lanyard and have fun.

They are Very Cool Boats, I'm with you on it being a Long time Favorite. It may be more fun than you think. A great wake jumper. You may use it a lot. Leave the Yammy on there until you decide whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, wrap it back up and sell it.. (Ha ha, I said "Wrap It" To You The Wrapper )

If I was to buy it, what would be the best option for power? Should a do a 300X or put 2 smaller motors? when I was a kid there was one in my bay in Brooklyn that had 2 200hp mercs. They were the biggest at the time.

I recently sold the molds to two great guys that are building them again not far from you with the help of Bob Saccenti. Check them out in the Apache forum

A single 250 or 300 and a good hydraulic jack plate. I would think twins would make it seriously ass heavy.

Buy it. I had a 250 on mine and loved it. I ran on the St johns in Jax and the ICW mostly but on a nice day I loved hitting the ocean. It loved a nice one foot chop. Thats when it ran best.

Gino,
I saw that one online, thats alot of coin for it.. I would look for either one that needs some work that Phil could finish off or go for a Defender. One with twin 2.5's would be the cats meow! Talk to Luhrs, they rigged a few chalengers back in the day that rolled twins..From what Rich said they were totally 2 different boats... The acceleration and top end rocked!
