26Scarab/Chuck...Bravo One mods from Lenny...
Could you give me some success stories on Lenny's Bravo One mods...like how many he has done, what kind of horsepower/torque are put to his modified drives, happy customers, etc? I called him and talked to him a bit on the phone, but I'd like to hear from others about his work.
Or you can call me at 616-291-7932
Thanks,
Mark/KAAMA

Hey Marc,
If your refering to the XR/Bravo conversions he has done 3 so far. This is something I actually talked him into.
Before that he has done some minor mods, mostly to help cooling and oiling.
As far as the XR/Bravo thing I we tested his first one on my boat (675hp) and a 27 Fountain(650hp) and had no problems other than the case cracked due to the person that installed the stainless tower over machined it.
The other two he has on his personal boat (700hp a side) and has run two poker runs with it. Although he has has some engine gremlins , I know he has run those drive HARD. He usually cruised around 5000rpms. There are some minor things that still have to be worked out on the drives yet... the shifting is real touchy but other than that the XR gears seem to be holding up .
Lenny is a real stand up guy and one of the few that runs an honest shop. He is a personal friend of mine also.

Chuck,
Thanks for your repley. I think I may have him check my drives out and make a few of those mods he does to them. He apparently does a mod that makes the drive run cooler, adds a better front bearing and a few other things. He seemed like a pretty nice guy when I talked to him on the phone. He told me where he sees the most failures on the standard Bravo One and told me that most of the mods that IMCO, Max Worx, Teague, etc. do aren't always neccessary. Besides, I already have XR's and I'm running naturally aspirated engines that actually are pretty close to yours in cubes and power. Lenny said said one of the biggest issues with the Bravo system is the heat factor which most of us already know, but I really didn't realize just HOW important it is to keeping a Bravo cool until he explained to me that many Bravo drives parts break because of overheating the drive due to the fact it doesn't shed the heat fast enough.
Anyway Chuck, thanks for Lenny's number.

Hiya Dan,
Florida is way too hot & humid for me----I don't envy you. I still like California's desert (spelling?) climate and dry heat. But I am way up here in Michigan where we get a good mix of everything. I don't much care for the snow either----I guess you have to take the good with the bad at times eh?
Looking for my hog to be finished here pretty quick. Redid a lot of the wiring and battery cables, switches, terminals, etc. Anyway, we're almost there.

RE: Have to agree with Chuck
In regards to Chuck's comments of Lenny running an honest shop, and standing behind his work, I would have to agree. I do a lot of my own work, but I keep my boat at the marina where the shop is, and I have heard nothing but positive comments from everyone who's dealt with him.

Have to agree with ya about the heat..summer here is brutal, no doubt. But the winter spring and fall make up for it...and I dont have to shovel sunshine or rain!!!
I sure do miss Calif. but I dont miss the traffic, crime, smog, crowds or the high prices or the democrats. Ca hasnt been the same since Reagan was the Govenor. 38 MILLION people there...unreal!!!
I need to go back for a visit soon to remind me why I left.
