Mercury 8.2 MAG vs 8.2 MAG H.O. opinions

I know this is a little different, but last year I had my twin 496 Mag motors "converted" to HOs via a cam and PCM change. Prior to the conversion, I could expect low 70s with 74 being the best WOT. After, I can get slightly over 80. My boat is a Advantage 32 Victory and I'm running Bravo 1s with Bravo 4 blade 28 pitch props. Of course, my "upgrade" didn't cost $11K, more like $6K so I would say, yes it was worth it! Good luck!

I don't know the specific differences between the regular Mag and Mag HO, but I would guess that its the cam and tune only.
IMO, I would go with the HO's. Although they cost more, you get the benefit of more hp and they will add value whenever you might want to sell.

+1, especially when you consider the $11k difference in the overall cost of a 310 FX. They are great looking all purpose boats for sure!

The Volvo Penta 430's are out now:
Volvo Penta 430 page.
Can't wait for a comparison test. Given the history of most of the LS-based engines introduced so far, I would expect that fuel economy numbers would be far better for the VP's.
