What brought this question on was someone "twisted" my comments and said I was bashing the Midwest and LOTO, we'll for the record I LOVE LOTO and Missouri, but just not a big fan of ice/snow and cold weather and I like to see the sun on a consistent basis, so we bought a place down here so we can have the best of both worlds.

I think it's cool that people like doing cold weather stuff like snowmobiling and skiing, I'd rather stay warm, but if I don't like it and I voice my opinion don't bash me.

I hope to see a lot of you down here this season, it's almost here, gonna be a great time.

Sure it gets a little warm 3 months of the year, but if you watched the temps this summer in other areas of the US, the Tampa Bay area was not that hot, and there is at least a good Gulf breeze on most days.

Of course if it gets too hot for normal boating you can just fire up the small jet boat and cruise up the spring fed rivers with their nice cool and clear waters and find your own private paradise to beat the heat....75 degree fresh water feels great on a 90+ degree day!!

Cheers,

Dave

This is why, FLORIDA all the way, baby! I've lived here since 1990, and wouldn't live anywhere else. You get used to the heat in the summer, if you get outside and sweat. If you stay inside in the summer, you will never get used to the heat. I grew up in upstate NY, 30 miles from the US-Canada border, so I USED to know what real COLD was like.....

Shhh don't tell him...been needing a new belt and wallet!!

Usually the gators don't like the cold waters of the Weeki Wachee and stay in the warmer marshes...at least that is what I tell my wife.

The 6' plus Garfish are another story, kinda scary when they pass right by you in that clear water. Of course the Manatees do bump the little boat on occasion as they pass by in the shallow waters, but that just adds to the fun..

Still a great getaway on occasion and a change up from the normal Island/key hopping in the Gulf.

Cheers,

Dave

I get the question all the time, i love it up here and i think the Great Lakes is some of the best boating anywhere. I also like the change in seasons and dont mind the cold one bit in fact i actually like driving in deep snow (all i have ever had is 4x4 suv's and trucks) truth be told i need the five months off to fix all the crap i broke in the summer (yes i said five months, we start in the cold and end in the cold )

If i ever have the means though i would have a place on the west / south west coast of FLA and winter there. I would and, always will, call the great lakes home though . . . .

Keep meaning to do that, just haven't taken the "right" pic yet...that could be shared on a public forum..ha, ha!!

Maybe this cropped down teaser will tide you over until I get the right shots worthy of the Boater Girl thread!.

Back on topic, seeing hot girls in bikinis all year is reason enough to live in Florida...and just like the great boating, that never gets "old" !!

Cheers,

Dave

I'm thinking most folks would love the have place back at home (where they grew up) and if it's a cold weather city would want a warm place for the winter months, that's what we're doing, but some people just can't be happy for others that get their dream, I'm thrilled for them when someone gets their dream boat or house, other not so much,........................................ mean people just SUCK.

I get tired of the snow, moving two lots of cars and plowing all the time gets old.Spring, summer and fall are awesome up here. I do enjoy snow shoeing with wife and dog, I love to visit Florida, just not ready to put up with all the people packed in. Enjoy my open air!!
