This is before the ZR name was created. They were planned to be called "competition series" It was painted on the hull side and deck logos, then changed a few months later.

Boat looks awesome, very nice on the re-rig, top quality. White bilges are nice, but I thought the red looked pretty cool too.

It looks like they filled in the transom from the outside instead of the inside? Do you have a bigger picture of the photo where it looks like they scarfed out the plywood filler pieces or any more pictures of the transom repair sequence?

I thought the red looked good in the pics but in person it was very loud. Pretty much everyone agreed that it just didn't work with the red vipers.

I'll see if I can dig up some pics of the transom job. Jerry might have some. The transom wasn't in need of repair - it just needed changed over to staggered. I was on the fence about switching it over from side-by-side but in the end I"m very glad we decided to go through with the extra expense.. The staggered boats have such great balance.

I've talked to some of the Donzi people who say that beings that it was the first ZRC this boat was built by the engineers themselves and thus a great deal more time and attention went into constructing it than the subsequent boats that were turned over to the production team. I've been told everything on this boat was vacuum bagged. If you crawl around inside it's built like a tank.

Mitcher T sure seems to like black/grey/red. Can't say I blame him.
