DK has hit the nail on the head regarding the local boating club. Reference my comment about the local Poker Run's being a joke.

The LTPA, in my opinion is really "missing the boat". They don't have meetings of the membership to discuss local boating issues or remedies, they don't promote "safety and boater education" as it's stated in their charter, they do nothing but promote Poker Runs having no more than three stops with one of those being a raft up in the local "party cove" with no cards drawn. I won't even get into my differing opinions about promoting alcohol consumption while participating in Poker Runs... ...I attempted to describe some concerns and ideas to them but received no response.

Trailering up to Texoma or PK sounds fun. Is that an invitation buried in there somewhere? I'm sure Dredge would be up for a trip as well.

In the meantime, a little sprucing up and a FOR SALE sign on the T'bred might be the plan.

It sounds like you need a change of scenery.

PK is a beautuful lake. It is alot like Lake Travis but with higher cliffs and less homes.

Lake Texoma is very different from Lake Travis. It is very wide and sometimes very shallow, but it has sand islands where everyone meets.

However, in the end, boating is boating. If you don't enjoy going to the lake, go ride the bike!

Go to Galveston Bay. I know: the water is salty and murky (it clears past the "jetties" in Galveston), but you can run to many places (anywhere your fuel capacity can take you). We go to Galveston or Bolivar for lunch and can go to Corpus Christi or to Lousiana (Casinos). We also have run out in the Gulf of Mexico to the some of the oil derricks (our islands).

John,

I think you have it bro, Too Old can't you see it? Yep he's definitely got it, it's the sickness.

Stud don't worry you'll get over it, it's not terminal but the remedy can be hectic at best.

Would you really like the remedy? I don't know here, What do you think Fred? Can he handle it?

Before we proceed I have 1 question for you. What kind of bike do you ride? This is all important!!!!!!

John, the Texoma poker run will be on Sunday
labor day weekend. Definitely not a "joke" poker run. Lots of money and at 26 feet you will be a little fish. I'm not nocking you (mines only 23). There is usually an Arneson jet engine boat and lots of other serious (read 120mph plus) boats on hand. You need to call Lowes on Texoma to find out more. We just go to watch. We will be on the south side of the islands on sunday morning to watch everybody roar out of lowes. You should check it out.

Come on up for the Texoma Run. It's so serious it hurts! We just watch also. $500 entry per boat or hand... Winner takes ALL. Last years winnings were around $85,000 from what I heard. Maybe someone else can confirm this. But that kind of cash does draw some FAST boats.

The Island is one fun, loud party all Saturday until around sundown. We camp out there either staying on the boat or putting up a tent. The whole west side of the island will be rafted up and 4 to 5 deep. Water can be real rough. In my little 22' Checkmate, I was getting 2-3' of air under the prop at 35 mph in front of the island. People were pointing. Lots of fun for a while. Wife wasn't in the boat... good thing. She wants a larger boat Bunch of our friends will be there. Look for the black Checkmate towards the south end of the island.

Hope your sickness doesn't last long!

Scott

Hmmmm. The Texoma Run sounds interesting, but $500 entry is a bit rich for my blood. Perhaps hanging out and watching would be fun though since I'll b e in FW on Monday to teach a riding/roadracing school at Texas Motorsports Ranch on Labor Day.

Let's see, can I tow the boat to Texoma with the bike in the truck???

To answer Sean's question - a 2001 929RR for trackdays and teaching the school and a ZRX1200R for getting around town. Do I qualify?
