We built 5 boats for wellcraft with steps and they weren't half the boat the original was . My old race boat was the fasted 26 we ever built we went 103 with 640HP 468ci A class motor and A Blackhawk Drive in 1994. on a rail.

Great Hull design that has been around a long time...as an FYI you can look under a late 80s Scarab 28 Excel and find the same hull with a swim platformed Excel designed deck.

Ok, so now the boats fully fitted and been run. Curious how the final weight came out? And how does that compare to the older LS's built that have been raced? I've spent a lot of time in a buddy's 26 CV (600hp and added bulkhead/stinger work to strengthen Wellcrafts family boat layup), and am always amazed at how the LS bottom design handles in rough water - it's a great ride, even when trim tabs are not functioning. The sharp front entry and bottom strake/pad design works extremely well. You can see in this pic of us busting across the Chesapeake Bay, that while my buddy is in full concentration driving, I didn't seem to feel the need to even hang on, lol. More people need to know what this ride is like .

that's my old race boat I built that boat for Nigel and raced the hole 94 season with him we won all but one race on the national circuit that was our first national championship.
