Why wont my bilge pump shut-off

As someone mentioned earlier, on my old Baja, sometimes my float switch would stick on and I would have to get something to tap it to get it to turn off as it was under the engine. I would use my rear navigation light pole as it would extend enough to reach it.

Figured it out. My Water sensor switch was stuck on. Even turning the dash mounted toggle switch off will not over ride the water sensor switch that resides in the bilge. So basically if the water sensing switch goes bad while you are out on the water and the bilge pump will not stop running you will be forced to cut the wire to your pump to shut it off.

I thought bilge pumps were always wired so the could not be switched off?
