Welcome, and before you lay down any $$ for a boat, make sure you get a marine survey done on the whole boat also. In fact some insurance co.s require it.

Keep an open mind and shop. There are many great deals out there. And many great brands. If you would like something with lower hours work towards that. Shop! That is why Al Gore invented the internet..

Thanks everyone. I've been shopping around for about six months. The owner swears that it is a 1996 and states that Warlock wasn't even around in 1986. The owner goes on to say that the motor has been trouble-free and it hasn't needed much maintenance. I just hope that I don't get stuck with the bill of a boat that has been abused. I think it is probably a decent deal, but I guess only time will tell. I've been looking for marine surveyors, but haven't found one. I've asked for a compression test, which should be available tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's insight!

Where are you located? warlocks are nice boats from what I've seen. The euro is a cool style and it should scoot along pretty well, but price is everything

What is the primary use for the boat? Lake, River or offshore? I know it's OSO but I gotta ask.

500 hours is a typical number for an engine refresh, though many have gone to 800 or a 1000 hours. At the very least I would think it prudent to run a leakdown test and have the heads serviced.

I'm in Texas and the primary use will be lake use…at least for the foreseeable future. I'm not even sure what an engine refresh costs, but it might be worth doing right off the bat to avoid larger failures later. My main worry is figuring out this HIN ordeal because the title says 1996, but it appears the HIN 86 on the last two numbers.

They had a warlock running around here when I had my new 1988 Stryker. So I'm pretty sure they were building boats in the 80's

They didn't build a V bottom 28 in 86. Post a pic. I can tell you what year it is. Roughly. Need the whole VIN this will tell if it's warlock, ultimate warlock
