Cool BRE in AZ?

A friend of mine has a Beck Racing (1,000HP) engine and has been very frustrated. It didn't run right from day one, and he ended up taking it a third party to get it tuned. Also, he found out that it had a less than stellar valve train when he pulled the covers off...

However, that is just one instance (and should be taken as such)...here is a thread or two about them on another board...

Good luck

If you already have a good running engine and a shortened drive, I'd suggest a extension box. You might gain more mph than with a new engine and it would be cheaper.

Really this will help if not fix the problem !!!!! One other thing we've run a comp 288AR8 and it eats ,,,I mean eats springs and lifters in boats if this cam is the exhaust or intake profile of this cam thats trouble too !! hope this helps ,_____A>M>F>
Cat;

I have a 632" with 10.5:1 comp, fully ported and polished dart 360 heads, dart tunnel ram, 2X775 race Demons, comp solid roller 280/288 @.050 .785 lift on 115 cernterline. made 900hp @6600 rpm. @5800 it made 840hp. I very seriously doubt you will get the 850hp you are looking for with less compression and a hydralic cam. I've had lifter issues in my motor and thought about going to hydralic rollers, all the manufacturers and builders I spoke with thought I would give up 100hp. I didn't want to loose that much so I have a set of Schubeck radius lifters going in today. Oh, and I run 93 Octane with 32 degrees of timing. I would say 775-800hp is more likely. I spoke recently with a 25 Daytona owner from SC woth a 622" motor (same heads, 10:1)solid roller and a dart single plane manifold with a 1250 Dominator that makes 840hp at 6300. They just arn't going to get there with a hydralic cam. Also the guy who built my motor knows how to make big power he primarily builds drag motors and has built several 500" NHRA pro stock motors.

Cord,
I did try the shorter lower as a matter of fact I ran the 2in had major blowout put the 1inch spacer in still a lot of slip ended up putting a 2in spacer in back to stock height. Come to find out HTM puts their drives about as high as possible and I proved that after $1000 in spacers. I thought about the ext box but no one has tried one on a 24 HTM that I am aware of. I am running the Imco SC drive have about 20hrs on no problems, also run a Broson hill bravo 4blade and Hering 5 blade. Even with the 5 blade the drive was still too high. Motor runs awsome only has 80hrs on it but would like to go faster......

True, you would want to talk to somebody first...I don't know if the factory can be of much help either, but it wouldn't hurt to call. All might not be lost on the drive either. The box will effectivly lower the x by an inch, so you may be able to remove one of them. I've heard of some pretty amazing gains with the boxes and you might just be a canidate.

Got the cam yesterday, its going in today and will be on the Dyno before week end. I used a Schubeck cam which was ground by Bullet, the cam had a "wild" coating on it that made it very slick (looked polished) ...just like the radius lifters. I think what Schubeck is doing is bringing "Aerospace" technology into the high performance arena. The Duration and centerline are the same as the one I took out but I took out .045" lift (.740" now) The lifters weighed less than half of a standard roller lifter. I will post dyno results as I get them. According to Schubeck the Rockwell hardness of the cam is a 65, the lifters are 95. For reference a file has a 60 Rockwell. My engine builder told me the cam lobe looked sort of like a "very high lift" flat tappet cam....wide bases leading up to a relatively steep ramps.
