looking at it I would have serious doubts that it is "fresh"

and actually $850 is probably almost reasonable for that boat if someone could do the work themselves and the hull/transom actually had full integrity

that 165hp is probably just enough to get it to 38-40 mph or so which is all you need for any skiing

unfortunately there are probably plenty of other $3,000 boats out there in better shape that are slightly newer and lake ready so the only reason to buy that one is if you trusted the engine was fresh and done properly and you wanted a new interior

it is nearly impossible to get a boat that needs work and have the work done or even to do it yourself and come out under what you could buy something else for already done

with the prices of new boats what they are I still find it amazing that decent used boats or even ones that can be rebuilt are not worth more, but there is always someone out there that got in over their head and or found out they did just not have the time or the will to use and maintain a boat (especially maintain one that is not used often) and they are looking to dump it and move on with life or get any money they can out of it ASAP

the thing I always find myself saying is "ok after all that work and expense what would it be like trying to sell that for break even"......and the answer is impossible
