Default 42 MTI "Wicked" Questions

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o58054-en.html

I've been contemplating what to buy with some extra fun money. Aventador or boat is on the short list. Plan would be to do 3 of the big poker runs a year and maybe a 1/2 dozen times out on Lake Erie during the summer. I've emailed the seller but no response so far and before I bother Pier 57, MTI, or TNT I'd like to see if its something I am going to buy.

Questions are...

1.) Has it been raced?
2.) Has it been wrecked?
3.) Coming from a 46 cig to a 42 MTI will I be happy?
4.) How hot in a closed canopy with the entry lids removed?
5.) What are the thoughts of putting Merc 700's in and eventualy repower with Merc 1100's as experience grows?
6.) With 1.29 gear ratio and other setup would 700 a side work?
7.) What props with 700 power?

Thanks for any insights and responses.

Jeremy you are an IDIOT! Don't you know that a 41 Apache is the best boat ever, passed down from God to Noah and then on to Ben and Bobby!

In all seriousness, I suspect the 700's will be underpowered since they use those in the 36/39/40 and the performance is ok, not record setting. Unless you bumped the 700s up (whipple upgrades) then you will probably need 850s+ to make the boat exciting. It is a sharp boat for sure. If you are looking for someone else's upgraded project look at this MTI w/1100s- http://lipship.com/used_boats/view/64

I don't know anything about that particular boat, but a full canopy "pleasure" boat is a miserable PITA. They're hot, hard to get in and out of, and you can't see chit out of them. And with a tunnel tab on a "pleasure" boat, keep the oxygen tank full and harnesses on. If the indicators malfunction or you just forget that it's down, you'll end up on your lid.

Would you be concerned with it being raced and flipped?

My understanding with 700's its certainly not blowing over. The concern would be any kind of turn with the tunnel packed with air. Is this your logic?
Thanks for your input.

The complete redo was long after that so I assume it's in tip top condition now. I drool over it. If I could afford anywhere near that I'd do what you are thinking about.

Def go bigger than 700's. Been in several 40's w 700's and they all became boring real quick. My boat was planned for 700's as well and I'm so glad I went with the 1100 package.

You could blow that boat over with 496s in it if you didn't know what you are doing. And Bubba is right on target with the tunnel tab comments.

All of that is manageable, but this boat compared to your Cigarette is a BIG difference. For a boat of that caliber, you really need a "team" to run it. No rub rail, which means you need (proficient) help at the docks. You can't just trust any bloke with moving your truck/trailer in the parking lot either.

Just be aware that you are NOT "easing" back into the sport if you go with this option. A good friend wanted to go MTI or similar. He has an F-650, and means to do it.
But he just moved up to a faster V-bottom for simplicity of pleasure boating at the drop of a hat.
