Default New guy from Michigan with Baja Outlaw 24

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right section, I couldn't find any introduction threads.

Hi guys, I'm new to this site and performance boats in general. I've been wanting a performance boat for a long time to replace my aging seadoo jet boat, and after months of searching I finally got one I'm happy with. It's a 1998 Baja Outlaw 24 SE, 454 Mercruiser/Bravo 1 with 152 hours. I've only been able to drive it once (the day I purchased it from the dealer), but I'm hoping for some nice weather this weekend. I've been lurking here for a couple of months and Offshoreonly seems like it has a bunch of friendly knowledgable people, and that's good because being a novice to these types of boats I'm sure I'll have some stupid questions along the way. I look forward to getting to know the boating community and getting some seat time in my new-to-me boat!

Thanks, and here's some pictures- Don

It did 63.4 on GPS with the 23 pitch blade Mirage prop at about 4750 RPM's

Welcome to OSO!

Lock up all your cash and credit cards now, before you do anything else! Speed is addictive and it is not cheap.

All kidding aside, looks like a great boat. Best of luck with it and have fun.

Haha, I'm trying to avoid the speed addiction as long as I can because I know it's a slippery slope (I've spent enough $$$ to have a brand new boat on car mods over the years). I have boating friends who have a fairly large collection of props between them, so I might experiment with those a bit. But from what I've read I think 63mph is pretty good for a stock 454 (I'm not entirely sure if it's a Mag motor?), and I'm very pleased with the holeshot compared to the other 2 I drove before this one, it planes out very quickly with the current prop.

All over really. I live in Genesee county so probably Holloway reservoir or Lake Fenton when I want something close to home. But I do plan on going to Higgins Lake, Lake St. Clair, and on Labor Day I'll be out on Lake Michigan near South Haven. I by no means wealthy and this was a pretty big purchase for me, so I fully intend to use it as much as I can in our short boating season. Next year after I have some seat time I really want to go from South Haven to Chicago and back
