Maybe a moderator who DONATES his time to the website is a form of advertiser, but instead of paying an advertising fee, he is allowed to advertise his website. I don't know this for sure, but it would seem to make sense.
I'm sure if Mr. Blogtheobvious.com would pay to advertise on this site, he could link all he wanted. Just a guess though, I do not make the rules here!

That is flippin hysterical !!!!!! I was wondering kinda the same, if he can post but no1 but himself can see it he must feel as though everyone is ignoring him ! Not sure I understand the point of a time-out with invisible post except for the poster !

I have been a moderator on a number of forums. (full disclosure, not here) The job of the moderator is to enforce the rules of the forum, as posted in the terms. Every action, although taken by a single moderator, is recorded and discussed between all the moderators and the owners of the site. It is right because that is the way the owner of the site wants it to be. Every user is free to not pay, and/or not visit this site. No user has the right to make any post that violates the terms and conditions as posted, or anything that the owner deems unacceptable.

IF anyone is TRULY interested in what is right and acceptable and what is not, THIS THREAD is NOT the place to find out. The correct action would be to read the terms, and then ask questions of the owner or at least the moderators. Everything else is just looking for an argument.

I wouldn't worry too much about it in this thread. In a few minutes someone's likely to be discussing the ballistic qualities of saline.

Exercising my first and second amendment rights
The sign is in my yard where I have a first amendment right. I don't have the right to post a sign in somebody else's yard without permission.

Advertsing in signatures is permitted by some type of advertising fee, membership fee or special agreement.

A newer member constantly started new threads and put his link to his boating website in his threads.
He was asked to stop nicely several times and then told several more times to stop.
He continued to post his link after being repeatedly told to stop doing so. It showed a lack of respect for the OSO rules.
He did not stop posting his link until after he was put into "quiet time"
