I think there needs a be a catch that you can only spend the $ on boating. I.e. In your analysis, I would buy house, buy tow vehicle and several boats to meet each need. Hp CC, party barge, jet skiis, then hp cat or v hull. As most are using money for other reasons and not strictly boating.
Now if we all had millions in bank, your market analysis would go very differently. IMHO

I said you had to buy one boat but had to include upkeep/insurance/fuel/storage but in the canoe example you get to keep the leftover money.
The point was to show that no one is buying new performance boats even with a hypothetically free 500K!

Not into the center console thing at all. I have zero interest in running around/responsible for a ridiculous amount of people. -Also detest outboards. A nice clean/fresh water, Lip Ship Edition 39 Top Gun w/700's would be just fine.

Hypothetical game here to gauge offshore powerboat market direction. We all know that Performance CC's are on the rise so by this analysis lets see what type of boat people would put their money into.
Rules:
$500,000 budget to spend but that includes maintenance/repair/insurance/fuel/storage for 5 years. You can buy any type of boat new or used but you can only buy one boat and you have to keep it 5 years. You do not have to spend all the money and you get to keep whatever is left over combined with what you sell the boat for after 5 years (this is where the decision trend comes into play).
Examples:
Buy a used late model 39 TS/TG 700 boat for 300K, use the 200K left to run it and sell it for 175K at the end (175K net at the end)
Buy a 41 Apache for 75K, redo for 200K, spend the other 125K to keep it running, sell it for 125K at the end (100K never spent +125K end sale = 225 net)
Buy a new 38 Statement for 260K, under warranty the whole time, spend 40K on fuel/40K on insurance and sell it for 125K in the end. (Net 285K in the end)
Buy a canoe, bank the $499,500 and have more money than any of the 3 above and buff arms to show off from all the paddling!

One other thing JS, I wouldn't call OSO is a diverse group! Not as the population goes, maybe in the performance boat world.
Ok for me I would want something that could get to the islands so 37AT, or the 427? Nortech. Not sure of the price on that one.
But it would be hard not to buy used and have a lot of play money,,,,, to tell you the truth that would be what I really would do.
Still I don't think skater, MTI, OL, Statement, or Cig is really having issues now are they?

New Statement 380 CC- 260K
I meant diverse from guys with old boats they wrench on or guys that build new regularly.......If this group won't buy a new performance boat then the US public is really a longshot!
Skater/MTI/OL/Statement/Cig.......while we have seen a few new boats from each recently they are no where near what they were just 10 years ago (Statement excluded since it is newer). When was the last time you saw a new Statement cat/performance Vee or Cig "go fast" on OSO or at a local poker run?

I'd buy this 44 outerlimits and do all of my bucket list poker runs. Fast reliable good looking maintenance should be minimal (relatively speaking).
