No final decisions on classes or rules until January. We want to make sure we are addressing all of the boats that have agreed to enter this race. By then, we hope the word has gotten around to everyone that is interested in this type of racing.

We also have some meetings with our potential sponsor and another group that has reached out to us. We hope to have all of this finalized by the time the holidays are over .........and people can get down to some serious race boat building.

We are looking for project boats that have been sitting for a while and the owner is ready to move on.

Especially older 27 and 28 foot Magnums, Cigarettes, Panteras, Signatures, Sutphens and similar.

We have been getting phone calls and emails from people who already have boats they want to keep just as pleasure boats, but would, like to partner up with a friend or two and build a purpose built race boats. There seems to be a lot of interest in this size as it can be rigged with either single engines, twin engines or even outboards with brackets.

So please look around and if you know of anything that could be made into a race boat.....make it known.

I'm working on the Coyote 38, and if it's works out the Avanti 33' will be available with no power. (Disclaimer; you can't race the Avanti against me. lol,, she will have an edge. ) just kidding. Not about the "edge" thing, the race thing.

The boat he bought was named Beep Beep.....it is not the race boat from the 70's.

This Coyote has not been raced before and is the new design from Banana and Coyote with the wide strakes that makes it faster than the old design.

1970 the race was moved to Point Pleasant NJ and run at a distance of 198 miles

As history bears out, the fastest boats usually don't finish ...........and the smaller less powerful boats usually have a chance at the overall win!
Here are some amazing facts from the eleven years that the race was run around Long Island.
Bertrams have won four times out of the eleven years.
Four times single engines boats won out of eleven.
Five boats were under 21 feet that won.
Magnum, Cigarette, Pantera, Signature, have never won. Only big name is a Donzi driven by Brownie.
Don Aronow never won this race, he came in second to Brownie in another 28 foot Donzi that same year
A cat only won the race once.
