If turbines are allowed, I think it will hurt the turnout. Once Aquamania ran the Bimini race it I know it discouraged a lot of people from racing.

The same thing happened back in the 60's when Kiekhaefer entered a turbine.

It is worth considering and certainly would be something the HORBA board would weigh before a decision.

Gino are you thinking of entering one of your boats and adding another trophy to your Bimini one?

We also have another entry this morning, with a 29 Fountain with twin 454 and 113 gallons of fuel. He lives in the NY area.

How does a 1450hp turbine hurt when mercury produces a 1350 and 1650???? They should not be allowed either then..,

Any plans for safety gear list? Helmets, lifelines, kill teathers for everyone on board, how about plb, eprib for such a huge course where the boats could be very spread out?
Any thoughts or recommendations for weekend racers insurance since most guys policies will leave them with their pants down for racing. To cover their hardware, injury ins, spill / clean ups, etc....
Break down tow boat service courtesy of horba or are the racers to self cover with a service like boat us, or sea tow?

I think a lot more people would be discouraged about trying to run against 180mph piston cats than be worried about a 130mph vee bottom.....

I'm a turbine vee and there's only two of them in the world, so who do I run against? Why couldn't I run against piston boats that run the same speeds???

So, you wouldn't separate cats and vees in any class??

In your Tiger you would be in a class with a 40 skater with equal power???????????????

a turbine class, no matter the hull. Period. Same reason as in any other sport, turbo class, blower class, alcohol class, nitro methane class.
