Baldwin playing Don Aronow?? Got to be kidding Maybe a janitor But! Let’s see you get Brian De Palma to direct it and to play the King you will need someone with real Stage presence, that’s a real tough one got to think about that! Kramer that’s easy like a younger De Niro That’s the Bad Guy.
Not much Hollywood needed there is plenty of real Material here All the Boats, The Racing, Just look at all the characters Plus The Miami Intrigue!
Not overlooking the Business deals The King was a Master Business Man! Plenty of story’s there with all the involved

They did some filming during the SBI 2000 season.
They were using a pretty crappy piece of chit boat around 28 or 30 feet which was never intended as a race boat but they added alot of crap, painted it lime green, added numbers & got permission to tag along the race boats in Key West.
We would be running down a strech & it would come out of the center field with filming choppers around it. They would try to make it look as if the boat was out in front, winning the race.

The company that was going to produce "Donzi-The Legand", "Four Starz Productions", seems to have disappeared. Their web site and their 800 phone number have been disconected.
They had announced Sidney Furey would be directing ("Superman", "The Boys Of Company C") and also announced that Alec Baldwin would be portraying Aronow.
The movie was to have been an action thriller, a mix of the Godfather and Miami Vice.
I wish I knew more-I was hoping they would use my 1967 Magnum in it. I still have a copy of the script if anyone is interested in borrowing it.
Perhaps Powerboat Magazine might be of some help?

I think every year theres
"A" Movie being made about
Offshore Boats, Sometimes
its a Brand or a Person,
Or something to do with
drugs.
I have been involved in a
couple that never made it
and I remember one being
filmed a few years ago in
Long Beach CA.
Think Stinson was involved
in that one.

Ron,
What I liked about the script was that it was beliveable, I dont know if this had anything to do with Don's son being an advisor to the movie? Naturally the ending sucked.
One of the more interesting scenes to me was when Aronow and Knocky were discussing Boston Whalers as "courier" boats, Knocky tells Don something to the effect "I dont care if they have a thousand horsepower-they wont go any faster in the ocean...you need length and power" At this point Aronow decides to make longer "courier" boats with alot of horsepower.
It's too bad this film didnt make it off the ground.
Ron If you would like to borrow the script your more then welcome-give me a call.
