Many marinas in the Bahamas get their fuel from Cuba. Diesel for sure. When I stopped at Georgetown, Exumas for fuel on my way to the Eastern Caribbean they were out and said they were waiting on the fuel boat to arrive from Cuba. I was a bit surprised by that. We got it at Emerald Bay as we could not wait.

I would not go to Cuba for a " vacation " either as there are many other choices with 4 and 5 star ratings that you will not find in Cuba. The attraction for my going was the experience of seeing first hand an island where time has stood still since the 1950's. Was cool to see the old cars, walk thru the ballroom of the National Hotel and see pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and so many others from that era still hanging on the wall. For me it was a cultural experience that could not be found anywhere else least 100 miles off the shores of Key West. My blog I think (hope) pretty much captures the experience - the good and the bad. The people were extremely nice and I hope the net result of things opening up will lead to a better life for them. I can see there will be a downside to this for some as there will be winners and losers. Hopefully the benefits are not all realized by a corrupt government but I'm afraid they will be one of the winners.

As for investing, I think it will be slow and cautious as there are many risks until the picture becomes more clear. Time will tell.

I've been waiting for a good reason at least 10 years now.

Since my wife and I are both officially college students, I'm betting this "Art Appreciation" class I'm taking fulfills the educational requirement. However I just sold my running boat... But, I'd gladly buy fuel if anyone needs a valid reason. Someone please help out a couple struggling college students who desperately need a cheap ride to Havana for a day...

LOL. Ya, but how much of it can you believe ? When I call US Customs tomorrow I will ask them Terry. Meant to call today and got sidetracked and before I knew it the day was done. Story of my life. LOL Maybe I will have some " information " tomorrow and if so will post.
