Think about it...They haul a bunch of people comfortably, you make up excuses for owning one, you can have a big motor in one but the are still slower than your buddy's car, and no matter how cool the paint is or how loud the stereo is, when a Ferrari goes flying by you at three times your speed you will always wish you were in something faster!!

Flame away...
Wonder how the owner of a Ferrari feels when he has a new 4 DOOR Cadillac "V" flies past him with 3 Hooters girls in the car and he has 1

I'm doing my part to support the performance boat world. Have new 42X under construction at 128th St. in Miami.

Was there yesterday definitely a lot of CC boats however, sportboat orders were way up compared to previous years.

"whatever happened to the offshore go fast boats?"
there are no (to my knowledge) entry level boats. All amnufactures are swinging for the fence with $300k+++ lineup.
With that approach there is no customer development program. Either you are in for a fortune or you are out, that simple.
If a few manufacturers could make a decent "inland rough water sport boat" with a high level of offshore styling and targeted the harley bagger type community for under $40k. Something they could haul with the 1/2 ton truck already in driveway and enjoy like we all did in 70's-80's a new crop of offshore customers would likely develop.
Just my .02

Remember the 22' Chris Craft Stinger, Entry level with Offshore styling. Even Imperial Boats out of Indiana had a 21' with a Merc 260 with Offshore styling.

There are no 40,000 dollar new boats.
A friend just bought a new crownline. Open bow, 23' with a small block chevy and bravo 3 drive. 80 grand!

I was going to say the type of CC's most think of when they say replace the offshore boat isn't cheap either.

What does a "entry" level CC with trips from Notech or the like cost?

that is my point there are no entry priced boats.
I'll bet your buddy has $20k of options. Stereo/led lights/upgraded uphlostery/electronics/bravo3/etc. Etc. Etc.,
if you could buy a decent boat at a reasonable price you could get the bug and upgrade.
Heck am i the only one that remembers how we got started.
Fo me it was a 1974 24' cheetah offshore (one of the very first) w-bbc and trailer for $12,000 @ l.a. Boat show.

The crownline is a run of the mill "day boat". 80 large!
It would be great if you could buy a new performance boat for less than 40k.
It would also be great if pickup trucks weren't 50 to 70 grand.
It would be great if gas was a buck a gallon.
It would be great if you could buy a new vette for 20 grand.

You get the idea.

How can there be a $40,000 entry level boat when a Mercury engine and drive would cost $40,000 alone.
