If your talking new and to keep it under your money limit, I to would go with a Activator "like" hull that could take the abuse. I then would have the engine built by a respected BOAT engine builder (I would go with Big Cubic Inches and without a blower, but that's just me!) You would have to rig it yourself with a heavy duty bravo style drive (B-Max, Imco shorty, or something comperable)
If used then it's a completely different story. I think that if you watch the market closely you could find the right boat aready rigged and ready to go. Kinda like a couple of people have said. Used you could go with Twin's and a bigger boat, but also keep in mind your buying something that if it can run 100mph the chances are that it has been run very hard!!

Kaama Scarab my ex-girlfriend is selling her Super Hawaii it is a 91 34 with 365hp 454 mags staggered has a myco trailer that was used 3 times the boat is perfect I would say a 8.75 to a 9 on a scale of 10. The boat has been fresh water since new. she is asking 55k but I think 50 would own it.

30' Superboat, true 30" great in the Ocean, 75K would be very close with hydrolic sterring maybe a single Ram. John offers the 30 with the 496HO for $64,950 and runs 72-74mph. You may be able to save some money getting a motor other than Mercury but may not be as reliable as the HP500 EFI.

Hey there's one!! Superboat! I forgot all about them! I have heard that you get a lot of boat for you money from John!! But then again I have heard that about a lot of the East coast builder's, one thing is for sure, if it's from the east coast then it's going to be able to handle the rough water!!
Didn't John put a big motor in one of his first new 30ft's?? Wasn't it like 700hp or something? (My memory suck's these day's, Too Much going on, all at once!)
