With my mufflers closed, my 502mpi's sound about like 525efi's with wet exhaust.
With the mufflers open, it is quite a bit louder, especially at cruise speeds in the 3000-3500rpm range. I prefer to cruise with the mufflers closed.

I think it kinda depends on your transom layout - swim step, bustle, etc. Also, true dry exhaust is actually rare for non race boats. You can't run any type of reversion prevention with true dry exhaust. Not even flappers because of the heat. So most will run a pin hole at the tip to wet flaps. I ran them on my Baja. They were loud but not annoying unless it was night time and really quiet. ![Wink](/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

Really? Heat from the exhaust usually burns the sh*t out of the flaps. Burnt mine so bad even with the pin hole water dump that the steal belting inside the rubber flappers was coming through after one season. Rendering them virtually useless.
