This is making national news, but worthy of calling out on this forum. This exact location used to host the Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run up until 2 years ago.
This is a VERY small community. This has affected our boating family in the area directly, as those shot and killed are direct friends.

Shot, severely injured:
Vicki Gardner, President of the local Chamber of Commerce.
She was shot the back and is currently in surgery.



Our thoughts and prayers echoing Godspeed in healing for Vicki Gardner, friend of the Smith Mountain Lake Boating Association, and Smith Mountain Lake Powerboat Association.

RIP to those lost.

The shooter has not been identified, and is still the target of an active manhunt.
What's scary:
This area of Virginia has been highlighted in the show "Moonshiners" on TV. These are some VERY rural areas. This guy could hide in those hills for months on end.
Let's hope this is not the case.

Reports are the shooter shot himself. If you want to off yourself, go for it but why take others with you?

Black guy shoots white people. Is this considered a hate crime like it would be if roles were reversed?

Horrible... Appears fellow employee is the attacker and was motivated by ALLEDGED racial remarks made by news woman. Is this a hate crime now?
