So, 36' Apache or 35 Cafe Racer?
Been a lot of talk around here about Apache lately, but it seems to be focused on the bigger 41' and 47' boats. So, I got to thinking (dangerous...) - which boat would you choose, a 36' Apache or a 35' Cigarette Cafe Racer? Or, does the Apache line up better with the 35/38 Top Gun? If you were heading out for a big water poker run, say Smoke On The Water or similar, which boat would you want?
Now, where the hell did I put that winning lottery ticket...

I'll say that the 36' Apache and the Cafe Racer are about the same as far as running in big water, top speed and construction. However, I do think the Cafe has a better dash layout, cabin and deck. I've ridden in both. You will probably pay $15k-$20k more for a comparable Apache. And, NO, it does not compare to a Top Gun.

I believe the 36 Apache has a bit more freeboard and if I recall correctly, it doesn't have the shelf on the forward bulkead in the engine compartent...makes any trips into the bilge a pain...but that's the small stuff.
My opinion, having been on both boats is that the Apache rides a bit heavier believe it or not...it had a more solid feel than my Cafe, but that is not to say that the Cafe isn't solid...
The dash on the Apache is plain, and i don't like the vinyl dash on the one here in NY.
All in all, I would say go for the Cafe...you'll get more bang for the buck.
just my opinions...and you know what they say about that...

Your Way!
If ya don't like the "plain" dash, tell Bob and Eric what YOU do want! It's a custom boat and some like it plain and serious and some like it tricked out and wild....but the BOTTOM LINE is, either boat is pure QUALITY, but (i believe) the Apache offers a little more exclusivity and better resale!
