I sold it to buy the 20' Spectra daycruiser, from ActiveShack here on OSO.
Turns out, the Spectra was just too big for what I wanted out of a jet boat. The motor started ticking, and I was ready to part with it.

I ended up trading the Spectra for this Sunkisst with a 461.

The guy who had the Sunkisst actually owned the Spectra for 22 years before ActiveShack/Mark bought it from him. He realized he never should have sold it, and REALLY wanted it back. We traded, the Spectra with the motor tick, for his turnkey Sunkisst.

Turns out the Spectra/ZZ502 had too much oil in it, and it was foaming causing a tick during high speed blasts. Easy to remedy.
The Sunkisst's 461 started detonating, and I sold it broken. Turns out 4 lifters had chit the bed.

So I am out of jet boats, and kept my 17' Speedliner catamaran/outboard.

But I'd still buy that green Southwind back in a heartbeat.

over the transom can inject water for noise reduction, but it's real hard on the valves. Mine have never ran water, just spray them down with wd40 to keep em shiny after they cool off.

Nope, water cooled is not necessary in open air like that. Eventually, they will turn a bit blue, but nothing to worry about running them dry.

Pretty cool!

I took my 502 out of my custom pickup and put it in my jet boat, does that count?

Glad I still have that jet, she got a lot of use this summer when the scarab was in dry dock!

Spent a year with a sleekcraft few years ago , had 2 pickup truck engines spinning 2 berk f pumps.
guy spent 15 years trying to get it dialed and most guys that worked on it just screwed it up worse.
had a bad jet pump intake hull mold on one side among other things. Only a few people in the known galaxy had ever even seen one with berks ever , anywhere . Went with light lay up interior and working witb what was there had it doing well.
A 27 footer with a holeshot on par with the bbc basset taylor sj i had at the time . Fun boat
