$15 to $30 I'd consider that too be a bargain. Since my cars are all die cast they are already built. Bonus the boxes are usually with a window, you can see the model. I tend to keep them in box original. I'm debating buying the model or wait for more to come. Id then have to debate building the model or keeping it new in the box.

Model kits or the real deal?
In R/C, Robbe did the 26" in the first two pics.
Dumas did a 55" in the third pic.
One of the fans of our fb page dressed his kid up for Halloween as Crockett and converted his stroller into a KV with cardboard and colored duct tape

The Dumas has been out of production for at least 15 years. Ocasionally see one on ebay. I've seen them go $250-$400 depending what was included. The base kit built the boat minus drivetrain, but then there was hardware kits, railing kits and detail kits for the deck hatches, wheel and vents.
Surprisingly you can still get the detail kit on the Dumas website.
I have a complete kit that I was holding off on starting. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the Edition scheme or Snap-On.
I know which one I'm doing now

Thank you for showing the cool models. Also what a cool looking baby stroller made to look like a Scarab. I should do that for my nephew when it becomes Halloween again.

In addition to the restoration thread, I may need to start a wish list thread for hard to find parts.
Even though the KV was given an acrylic sliding lower cabin door, the 1&2 boats still had the wood bi fold doors with smoked inserts that the 377 had.
Unfortunately the upper and lower doors from our boat were stolen.
Hopefully I can barrow someone's lower doors for a pattern.
I can use the upper door from our Edition boat to have a duplicate made.
Once again I'll need help for the logo. Our Edition boat has the same design as Star 1 with the beatle on top and Scarab KV on the lower lip.
Star 2 was different, with only a small beatle on the lip with the upper portion blank.
I stopped in by Mel Riggs to check on his sources for availability of the outdated high perf parts, like the old school ball joint hydraulic rams. As usual, he came through for me with new leftover parts from up on the hill.

I was amazed to find some of the parts that are the most difficult to replace were in perfect shape.
The laminated gauge and switch panels are almost always cracked, chipped or broken on older Scarabs.
Our panels, trim and drive controls and compass are perfect.
Another bonus is the wiring looks like new through out the whole boat.

That show Extreme Auto Hunters just bought Switek's T-Bird for 55K out of some guy's garage in Iowa. 12 minutes of content stretched into 30 minutes of show.

They estimated that the car (non show) was worth in the mid to upper 30K range but owner thought 70K was the number since it was on Miami Vice. They came together at 55K.
