Sorry to hear of his passing Peter.

He raised a great son and looks to have lead a hell of a great life. I am sure he is proud of you and all you have done and continued his love of the water as well. He will always be with you and smiling down.

Paradox - very sorry for you loss. May your sorrow be replaced with only good memories.

I lost my dad some years back. Not a day goes by without me thinking about him. He brought me up on the water and in a boat. I thank him so much for this and I bring him with me everytime I can see water or I'm on the water. The beauty he saw and felt is the beauty I see and felt. It was not forced on me, I truly find peace and love with water.

May your dad RIP.

I'm sorry for your loss. My father died in 1968 when I was 10. As far as planting the seed, it was my father too who passed on the boating bug to me. He was the proud owner of a brand new 16' runabout powered by the latest technologically advanced and highest powered Merc outboard of the day. It was BY FAR the fastest thing on Bangs Lake in Wauconda Ill. This was the summer of 1967 and I still remember clearly going across that lake in that boat. RIP

So sorry for your loss Peter & family.
I too, have my Father to thank for my Boating, Corvette, Snowmobile, and overall gearhead affliction/addiction/conditions.
Your story hits home with so many of us.

For those of you that still have your fathers...treasure every second, something some of us will never have again.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments and posts. I appreciate it. My Dad and I have many great boating (and other) memories I will never forget. As I am sure many of you as well. The physical body may go away but their spirit and memories, their teachings will be with us until we go away.
I think there is a new thread brewing here. How did your Dad got you into boating? or share old boating stuff with your Dad, Mom, Brother is Sis. Funny and interesting reading may be ahead. And that's a good thing.
Thanks again.
