Interesting read Monaco, thanks.
I know it's only one man's review but the speed test surprised me. The Velocity is significantly lighter than the rest and with a non-stepped hull, it was more than 10 mph ahead of the others. It did have a labbed prop but it seems reducing weight is far more important than steps if you're chasing top end speed. Hope the lighter weight doesn't compromise strength?

Friend had a 260 Velocity, fast boat compared to another brand with same power, but you knew you were in a light boat, especially while going fast with a light chop.

The worst enemi of speed is weight, is a statement :-)
I have heard that the stepped hull on the 271 Fastech, does not have mouch innpact before you Reach 70 mph, compaered with the Sr1 hull (non stepped)
If this is correct I do not know... :-)
What I read from the test, Fromula was rated as the best allround opption :-)

Hi guys
This is the SR1 hull, but it shows that you can get speed out of a 271, when you add som hp and know what you are doing

For what its worth, I had a 271 fastech. It was an awesome single engine boat. My biggest thing was I overnight a lot and wanted a pump out head, which the formula has. Not many single engine boats with a pump out.

Also for what its worth, I HAD a 271 Fastech and recently purchased a 312 Fastech.......A lot of Formula owners buy the same brand again, so that should tell you something. Yes there are faster boats on the market, but for the price point, the fit and finish of them are awesome.

What do you think is the main difference between the 271 and the 312 ? In your case of course speed is a big difference ;-)
