What was done to the bottom to give the bow more lift? I'm also surprised you did not consider a canopied boat.

I have a FASS pump in my boat providing fuel to my two Yanmars, and it has been trouble free, it also got me 2 mph. Great project keep the pics coming.

I was wondering the same thing but at least want to test my knowledge.

Would the depth of the tunnel be decreased or filled in towards the stern in order to increase the air speed resulting in greater stern lift?

Adding rocker to the section behind the last step. And the long tunnel extension actually adds lift at the front not back.

We wanted as much lift as we could get since the cummins we were going to use only had 570 hp and 1200 ft lbs of torque but now we have over double that power so we might have too much lift.

I did not want a canopied boat, we are going to use the boat as a pleasure boat some and with the suspension seats the canopy would have to be really tall. When we are trying to set an endurance record and were against the clock I need to be able to jump up and move around quickly if there is a problem with something.

Are the 2 tubes that run from the rear of the cockpit over the bustle for self bailing the cockpit??

Yes, The cockpit will have no holes in it where you could fill it up like a bathtub except for the two holes you see in the pic that run down the tunnel and out the back. If we are taking waves over the front or we are out there in a major rain storm and the cockpit starts filling up we do not want to have to stop and bail the water out (we have done this in Freedom on the way to the Bahamas in 12 footers). We did not want holes down into the bilge like most boats have. we may be 1500 miles from shore in waves like that for hours straight and If the bilge pumps quit working you could sink the boat. The holes are each half of a 6" pipe to be able to get the biggest part of the opening as low as possible. We did the math awhile back on how much unrestricted flow they will handle and it was a lot, I don't remember the time but it will drain the cockpit from half full really quick.

I have a machine shop so we designed and machined a lot of parts for the boat. Here are the trim pieces and covers for the cockpit drains. Most of the time we will have the covers on unless its going to be rough water or raining to make sure nothing goes out the back if you drop something like a phone.
