Default Merc 275 Verado Whipple upgrade

I have a 06 38' Donzi ZFX cuddy CC. It has trip 275s. I am going to do the Whipple stage 2 upgrade soon for the advertised 65 hp gain. I will prob send everything to them next month. The way the boat is propped now at WOT I run 62 and about 6100 rpm. Does anyone here have any experience with this upgrade or similar upgrade, good or bad? And what increase is top speed do you think I will achieve?

I would think with almost 200 hp extra you should be at-least 7 to 10 mph faster , depending on max rpms for those motor's or new ecu upgrade new prop's mite be needed , If they raise the Rpm limit you mite be able to stay with the same props , that would save you some nice coin

Thanks guys for your input. I am hoping for 5-8 mph and not having to replace props. We will find out though. I am hoping to have everything going for the Cumberland Thunder Run June 17-18th. I will post my results so others can see if its worth it.

25 hp increase equals 1 mph so 195 increase in hp means possible 7 to 8 mph increase in speed. I would think a larger prop would be in order.

Update. Ran the boat Saturday with wife and kids in boat, so she didn't let me stay wide open long. Got 64 and at rev limiter supper fast. Acceleration is much better, it was not bad before but noticeable difference. Was planning on running harder Sunday but Lake Cumberland debris got me. Hit **** and center motor giving sensor error. So she was dropped at the shop. Hopefully they have everything fixed by Cumberland Thunder Run in a couple weeks. Then I will give a new update. So I will be buying some new props.

What is the rev limiter you might be able to spin 26's.

Play around with this calculator with some known numbers first then change to 24 and see if you think they will work. On the same site there is a speed calculator again enter known values first like the original speed and HP and then enter the new hp should be very close to your new top end and then you can use the other calculator to back into the proper pitch.
