Yup. 1982 32 Cobra. Technically any boat under 40 feet can run in our class. That being said a purpose built raceboat will always have an advantage on a pleasure boat. Boats in our class range from us, a 34 Phantom, 39 Velocity, 36 Cobra, 38 Top Gun, 32 Scarab Viper, and a few others. For the most part vee bottoms in the mid 30 range

So you choose one that you think is a fast hull, hoping to be right and not make the mistake to have chosen a too slow hull, right? and for lenght, off course the shorter the faster in smoother water but the longer one will have an advantage when rougher stuff... right again? No need to choose a stepped hull to be fast ?
