The price and interchangeability of parts are the only drawbacks I see.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but as much as Noli contributes to these sites in finding all kinds of things sometimes it is not with all the facts. This company was at the Miami show and is working on some cool stuff. They are looking for companies to complete the engine. They are only going to manufacture the short blocks. Someone like a Diamond Marine would have to finish the powerhead with computers, injection system etc.
There is no factual dyno data to support the claims to date that I have seen on any site regarding the higher horsepower they are showing in the rederings.
The stuff I did see was really nice and in concept would be a cool race type motor.
The first 2.5 blocks were to replace all the Merc 280 2.5's for the smaller boats using all other Mercury components. I guess time will tell how these things pan out but I personally do not see high end O/B cat owners running these type of engines on a pleasure cat especially if they do not come with a warranty program.
