I'd get the magnifying glass out to analyse this one. What about frogs found in the impeller?

I've had ETECs and they were awesome. Couldn't have been happier.

An ETEC? Care to elaborate.

Wow that's a heck of a deal. Checking prices now.

10 years, unbelieveable. If the warranty covers all items, as wwahl wrote in post #2, I would definitely want to fully read that warranty. I would tend to think that Bombardier is a very trustworthy company, having been around longer than I have been alive (I am 51 years old). I love Mercury, but a 10 year warranty, that is a strong eye-opener. A very smart move for sales.

Wow! That is awesome! I have been a bit skeptical about the Evinrudes, but they do have a following. Other than it looking a bit funky, it sounds like it should be more of a contender!

I was actually looking at a 35'CC with a pair of 250 Etec's and 600+ hours. I was wondering about repowering it with something else, but if I could get a good deal on the boat.....well this is something to consider!

Probably have to get all service work/normal maintenance done at a authorized dealer for the 10 years to keep the warranty valid.

I'm not an outboard guy so pardon the dumb question.

What is "normal maintenance" for an ETEC?

Aren't they the "push the button" or similar to winterize ? Due to a case of temporary insanity, I briefly entertained adding a pontoon boat to the stable; one of the sales pitches (which is a big deal in MI) was the fact that you could put it away for winter and if we were blessed with a nice day put it back in the water and simply push the button (turn the key backward?) to re-winterize it.

What else do you do besides change the lower unit lube and fuel/air filters for "normal maintenance ?

Per the website, no dealer-scheduled maintenance for 5yrs/500hrs.

http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/engine...-hp.html#tab=0

Now what happens at/after 500 hours, I haven't a clue.

Just looked at Dubbert's website, they're advertising the G2 300 at $26k complete, rigged, and including the first 5yr/500hr service. Still more expensive than a 300XS and a hydraulic steering package, but not by much!
