Last week spaceX launched a rocket with 9 merlin engines they got them all started on time accellerated to 3000mph and the edge of space, launched the upper stage then does a 180 and fires up an engine for a Boostback burn does another 180 so that its upright fires up an engine again and controls the thrust by throttling, slows it self to a stop and lands upright on a barge in rough seas they have 2 barges "just read the instructions" and "of course i still love you" i watched the vid and i am impressed! yet we as a sport have had many needless fatalitys from lack of high speed control? the technology is here to stop blowovers period... here's a good question we have all seen the replays online of cats going up and over would the simple parachutes used on qatars 50 mystic record run boat have saved lives? heres a few pics and the vid https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/...lcon-9-landing and heres the entire launch and landing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8wy5sQ2JDE we seem as a sport to be more obsessed with power and paint than being able to control the boats attitude at all times and conditions we should never have fatalitys because of a gust of wind period! defending this as "just the risk we take" is pretty lame and to outsiders it sounds like this.....this a a great customer service video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m5qxZm_JqM
