I to got interested in the PT Boats a while back, If you do a search on the web you can surf through PT stuff all day!! I did see the one in Key West, and next time I go back I'm going to try and find where it is docked. And see if I can beg, or pay for a ride!! What a thrill that would be!!

I remember reading that they do sell rides on it. Don't recall how much though.

In 1991 I was in Buffalo for a visit in late sept. went to the servicemen park, had a chance to tour the Sullivans a destroyer then a light cruiser the Little Rock and then a sumb forget the name but the best was they had a PT boat that was in the water best, you couldn't feel the destroyer moving but when you got on the PT boat you sure could feel lake Erie!!!! guess that's why they are called boats not ships

As I understand the History there was a “Step Kit” that was tried on some of the Boats, there were some in the Miami River when I was a Kid they converted the engines to 6-71 Diesels which seemed like a standard Practice then.

This past spring when I was bringing my Post up from FL, I took the ICW North from Cape Hatteras. Somewhere in North Carolina or Southern VA,
there is a spot where 6-10 old PT boats sit on the ground, about 100' from the water with trees & weeds growing all around them. Most were still battleship gray and I could make out a few numbers. I snapped a photo & will try to find & post it.
I remembered seeing them for the first time around 12 years ago on a Southbound trip.
I'd love to hop up on them & check 'em out if anyone knows the town where they are in. Mabe next year on the way back down...

One of those would be an awsome project boat!!!
