The story for me is that the girl that cuts my hair rides a Grom. She likes to talk bikes every time I get a cut. She starts telling me about two kids that started a small shop in a warehouse near me. She then tells me "they have all these old bikes there" and gets my attention. She then whips out her phone and shows me about 10 pics. The last pic was one of this bike. I told her I would buy it just find out how much. About 3-4 days later she tells me a crazy price. I tell her no thanks but let me know if they change their minds. About a month later(Monday) she tells me reach out direct because they are in a pinch and might sell.
I call up and offer 50% of the crazy price and say I will come see it immediately. They accepted and I went to check it out and make sure it was what it appeared to be. Sure enough it was exactly what I thought it was. While I was there the one kid tells me he actually did some searching and thinks the bike has been in Central America and then somehow back into the States. He actually called someone that he found that might be in it's history and, true to the legend, was told he better not call again and that he probably shouldn't dig up anymore names. LOL
I took the 650 and my bike trailer and picked it up last night. It's a bit banged up but I hope to get to work making it like new and then take it to events with me.
I rode it on video today and Yvonne is supposed to be loading it to YouTube. Stay tuned.
if you are on FaceBook it's already loaded there.

Wasn’t that the paint job on Bens Last 47. I believe it was his last raceboat before he went away. Around 1987.I remember it in bay city in 1987 the boat was there but Ben was not,. he was arrested at the airport on his way to the race.
