Summit GM Bare 502 Block
anyone have any experience with it? Seems fine, here’s why
I just had a 510 built with blower shop blower. It let go after 1 pass. Dropping valve seats like marbles. Guy got down on me. Block was machined 90 over! And I’m pushin 9lbs in it. Supposed to be 8:1 and after tear down found it 10:1. No wonder it let go. Claimed it to be a Chief motor but the tear down says other wise. Needless to say, it’s now at Stotler power and the other is in garbage. Thank god everything outside the block and heads is still good. If you are on lake Lanier, watch who you trust. Not every power boat shop is a power boat shop, Not gonna Mention Any names out in the open but if you are planning a build around here, PM me and if it’s the guy, I’ll let you know. SMH

One and done. That suks.
What makes something a Chief motor if some place other than Chief builds you a motor ? Makes no sense.

Lies
It was supposed to have been built by him and sent down for a guy who wanted more power after it was installed so it “ supposedly “ had 3 hours on it. I just had the rest of what was needed to make the boat safe plus things like the harness for switching to a carb. Bottom line is, it may have been at one time but was rebuilt incorrectly there and the shop just blew smoke up my Ass to get off of it. Either way, I got screwed and as a community am simply giving folks a heads up. We all work for our money and don’t need people doing any of us like this. I took it on the nose, learned and now that POS ( even though at a cost ) turned into a 540 blower motor. I don’t win in the finance Dept but the piece of mind I get from it is rather soothing.
