So, what’s the real scoop as to what happened between WHM and Sweers at the end of Race 3 today?

Here’s what we saw and scared the FOCK out of everyone at the Pier House:

WHM finishes the race, and continues on down into the harbor toward Pier House to make a victory pass where many of their friends/fans watch the race. They pass close to Sunset Pier and the Pier House (outside of the course).

DIRECTLY BEFORE the turn bouy WHM makes a 90 degree left turn into the infield.

Sweers appears to have ‘still been racing’ and was full out going for the turn bouy.

They missed each each other by maybe 20-30 feet, at speed.

Sweers continued and actually looped around the turn bouy, “still racing”.

It was a VERY close call. VERY. All you heard were screams and gasps from those who saw it.

Agreed. Crazy stuff abound. WTF was the deal with Lucas Oil with there pointy end facing 180 degrees in the wrong direction at the start of the unlimmited race?

Yeah, I thought that might be a ‘scare tactic’.

Our table was next to the entire RumRunner race team, and they had some ‘choice comments’ regarding the Lucas team as they were run over and nearly killed by said party many years back.

We didn’t see that in turn 3 but we were wondering about whm dam near putting amh on the beach out of turn 2. When you read rules 3 and 4 in the rules of the road section whm blatantly broke those 2 times. He would have the inside lane and know amh was going to pass and would just go right hard towards the beach.

And anyone that has been around that race course knows that that wall jumps out in front of after turn 2. I remember being in the drivers meetings and them adamantly telling everyone to stop showing off and stay of the wall (outer mole) but it actually kinda jumps out at you!
